Gearing up for the test! {FREEBIE!}

My students start taking their end-of-level test next week (EEK!). Since the rest of you are either testing already or getting ready to test, I thought I would share a few things...

1. I will make (or buy) some "Smart Cookies" to remind my students how SMART they are!

2. Doesn't everyone need a SHHHH... sign?  It helps keep unwanted visitors out during testing time.

3. And last but not least, I will sent this note home with my kids the night before our first test.

I am also loving Hope's testing treats! I'm going to make a few for my class and then I think I'll have them give a little treat and note to their 6th grade buddies. Click on the image to check it out!

I recently came across this awesome website called Teach Train Love on Pinterest. The author is a first grade teacher and she has an awesome list of brain break clips.  (And they are all on SafeShare.TV not YouTube - Bonus!) Click on the images to check out all the videos.

My favorite is the Dinosaur Stomp Video and I can't wait to show it to my kids!

How do you prepare for end-of-level testing in your classroom?

  1. I love the signs and the letters. We just finished, but I downloaded them for next year :) THANK YOU!

  5. What a sweet freebie! I guess I'm super lucky that in Canada we don't have intense testing like that - I can't imagine how stressful that must be for you and the students! Thanks for sharing the "Teach Train Love" website, I actually pinned it awhile back but hadn't got a chance to explore it but it looks like a must for the classroom! Good luck with testing!

  6. Too cute! I'll be stealing that sign for next year :) We are finishing up testing tomorrow. We've been using www.gonoodle.com. It's pretty new, but super fun ways to give the kids a brain break with little races and Olympic trainers !

  7. How sweet for you to put such a positive spin on such a (insert adjective) time as testing. We have one more day of our state testing. I'm pinning this post for next year.

  8. Love your post! Your kiddos are lucky to have you! :)

  9. Thanks for sharing about the website Teach Train Love. There are some great resources!! We could definitely put those brain breaks to use right now!

  10. We are unbelievably thankful that we do not test in first grade! We would just cry. Really. All our own kids are going through it and it's enough for any mom/teacher!
    Love the ideas and brain breaks. We'll use the breaks with our firsties because working for 10 minutes=acting like they're taking state tests!

  11. When my third graders started state testing in March, they were gifted cookies and your cute tag, our door was adorned with your "Shhh" sign, and parents received your letter the night before testing began.

    Thank YOU!

  12. That testing sign is too cute!! I had an old one that I wanted to jazz up, but this one is perfect! Thank you!
