Let's face it -- we teach in a world where our students NEED to know what true and false mean.
Just knowing what these words mean will give our students the upper hand on any test.
In math right now, my students are learning about this true/false concept, but they aren't quite grasping their meaning. {Naturally, this motivated me to make a mini unit with some extra practice activities.}
In this unit, I have mixed a little vocabulary practice with a lot of math!! Here is to hoping that {by the end of the week} my students will really understand these words!
You can snag this mini unit in my TpT Shop for $3.50:
{Be sure to check out the preview to see exactly what is in this unit!}
The first person to leave their email address will get this mini unit FREE!
This is a great unit for the new CCSS, thanks!

Deletewe just finished this. it really helped my kids to use a balance. we built each equation with cubes and then put them in a balance to see if they were equal or not equal! good luck! your mini unit looks great. it'll be added to my wish list :)

Oooo!! I love the idea of make each side with cubes! I will def. try that with my kids!
Deletelove this. our new mid-year assessments required (first grade) students to determine if 3 + 4 = 5 + 4 was true or false, draw a picture to explain their reasoning, AND correct the number sentence to make it true. :) it's been lotssss of fun teaching 23 6-year-olds this concept haha!
ReplyDeleteWe have a similar assessment! UgH!!
DeleteSo true! Our kids need to know this skill but it can be so difficult for them to get it down. This is something I will be using!
