I gave in...

... and bought an Elf on the Shelf for my classroom! I blame it all on Pinterest and the funny ideas everyone keeps posting about! I figure I'll use the elf in my classroom for a few years and then I can use her with my own children someday. I am also going to totally copy-cat Cara Carroll and name her Elfabet--it's just too cute!! I can't wait for her to arrive in the mail, so my students can meet her!

  2. I just bought mine too and was looking for ideas! I can't wait to try it with my kiddos!

  3. I TOTALLY want one! But I've been told by other teachers at my school that we can't really do it, since we aren't supposed to teach/talk about Santa Claus... Lame! I'm excited to see what you do with her! :)

  4. I wasn't sure about Elf on the Shelf but your cute post made me decide. I'll definitely be using it in my classroom. Now to decide, boy or girl?

Can't wait to see what you do with her!

  5. Elf on the Shelf has just arrived here in New Zealand. I am getting my kids to write about what happens at night time when he goes back to report to Santa.

  6. I used Elf on the Shelf last year in my classroom for the first time and it was the best thing ever! My kids LOVED having the elf (they named him "Jordan") and it was a great behavior motivator! Your kiddos will love it too, I'm sure!!

  7. This is my second year doing it and it is already funny. The kids said why did you put him there. I told them I came back and he was already sitting in the tissues. They have been on a search for him ever since. It is toooo much fun.

  8. Mine just arrived yesterday. As yes, I blame Pinterest, too. Can't wait to use it!!

  9. We just started ours this week... the students are so excited. the book says the only rule is you can't touch him... of course I have a child who had to go up and break the rule at the end of the day. There were MANY tears going home. So sad and adorable at the same time... oh to be a child and believe again <3 just precious. I have a poem I wrote (or I should say the Elf wrote) for when he is touched by a students... since you don't want one child to ruin it for everyone. I will be posting it on my blog soon. Be sure to check that out if a child touches him... it's a "quick fix".

  10. I'm starting mine next week! I can't wait for the kiddos to meet the elf and find him each day! :)

  11. I did it last year and my kids loved it. I had a blast trying to figure out places to put him. My husband came in an set up his tent one day and the elf was camping. Our elf will be coming next week. This year I bought a cheap elf from hobby lobby. I had borrowed the real thig last year. Looking forward to seei what you do.

  12. I loooove doing elf on a shelf! (My elf isn't this exact one, but a cute one I got at Kohl's one year). Our elf is coming Monday :) I had my elf get into my glitter last year and he left a trail around the classroom. (I'm sure Mr. Janitor loved me!)

  13. I just ordered mine! Not sure how to introduce him.

  14. I keep going back and forth on whether I want to buy one or not! I know my kids will love it, so I will probably give in and buy one! Tons of cute ideas!

  15. I received my Elf on the Shelf as a gift from a student's mom last year. Ellie the Elf showed up in our classroom on Monday. We're having a great time with her. One of my little boys swears he saw her eyes move! Love it.

  16. I have used mine for a couple of years. It's so fun! I had a teacher's kid in my room last year, and their elf from home wrote my classroom elf a letter discussing their plans once they got to the north pole that night.

  17. I just started our elf yesterday and I LOVE how excited to kids get to come in and find where he's hiding and what mischief he's caused. I caught one of my students whispering to him at the end of the day and it definitely made my heart smile :-) I just posted about some of the things that our elf has done, check it out!

  18. am I the only one *slightly* creeped out by the Elf on the Shelf? I'm sure you'll find a way to make it adorable and fabulous!!!

  19. Thanks for the ideas! My elf has not been very creative in years past so I'm going to try to do better. So many of the ideas that I have seen on pinterest wouldn't work at school...but I think I'm ready to break out "Elfis" on Monday, now! Good times!

  21. Hey Lindsey!

I, too, am doing an Elf on the Shelf in my classroom this year. I did it last year, but was so unorganized last year that I wasn't fooling a single one of my third graders, ha! So this year I decided to get more organized and make it more interactive for my kiddos since I'm now in 1st grade. I actually made a packet, if you want to check it out.

    Lovin' everything you're doing, girl!!

  22. This is the 2nd year I've done EOTS with my first graders. Our Elf likes to write messages on our board. He has very fancy handwriting. He leaves the movie for us to watch on his last day with us. He also leaves hot cocoa and popcorn.

  23. I have an Elf! The kids absolutely LOVE it! This is the second year I've done it and it's been so much fun! :-)

thanks for the love ♥
