skip-counting HELP!!!

Hello dear teacher friends... I need your HELP!
I have searched all weekend for some skip counting songs and I haven't found what I am looking for.

I want something that is fun and up-beat (not rap), but I also want it to get to the point.
I don't want to teach my students a whole song that only has a little bit of skip counting in it...

Even though I have no more teaching money left, I am willing to purchase a CD if I need to.
In fact, I would prefer a CD so I can play it while they work (but chants are good, too).

The only thing I have come across that might work is from the Math Learning Center.
However, I hesitate to buy it without hearing it first. Does anyone use it? Do you like it?

I would love any resources/information you have to offer on skip counting!

You guys are wonderful!

P.S. Any easy ideas for dinner tonight???

  1. We listen to "I Like to Count It, Count It". I am not sure if it is a Dr. Jean or if it is from School is Cool... But its great!

  2. Harry Kindergarten's Youtube channel has several different songs with skip counting. Exercise and count by 5's is our favorite!

  3. Dr. Jean's Macerena MAth {it's on her Sing to Learn CD I think!!!!! LOVE it!!! and they dance the Macerana while skip counting. You can buy just the one song on itunes I think!!!!!!

I also like Harry Kindergartner....it's a rap song, but my kiddos loved it. I just used it on Youtube.

  4. I love Macarena Math by Dr. Jean. It's on her Sing to Learn CD. You can also move your groove thing to it!

    You count by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's.

  5. We like Harry's Kindergarten. We have been singing his Whatcha Gonna Do? a counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s song for the past week. Also, Have Fun Teaching has a video on Counting by 5s. These are all available for FREE online.

    First Grade a la Carte

  6. I am a big fan of youtube (because its free lol!), so most of my songs come from there.

For counting by 10's you cannot beat "Climbing up the Mountain" by Mr. Harry

This one is also by Mr. Harry and it is a little bit rappy (is that a word?!)

This is for counting by 5's

These are from Have Fun Teaching, 5's and then 10's

Counting by 2's from Have Fun Teaching

    Hope that helps!

  7. I use a Jack Hartman CD, I think the title of the CD is Movin to Math. The kids like it and it gets them out of their seats to count.

    Spotted in Second Grade

  8. I love using Dr. Jean's Macarena Math song for skip counting. The kids love it and for an added bonus is forces the kids to cross the center line of the body thus waking up both sides of the brain! Love it!

  9. I recently bought Teacher Tipster's CD Brainy Beats. My kdis love it!

  10. Touch Math has a skip counting CD. I believe it is an intro or part of their multiplication materials.

    2B Honey Bunch

  11. Jack Hartman's cd is the best, counting to 100 with exercise, dancing twos, and 5s. We use it everyday!

Queen of the First Grade Jungle

  12. I teach first grade and I found many great songs that the kids love on youtube..I searched counting by 2's, even and odd, counting by 5
    I hope this helps

  13. OHmiword girl. My kids are OBSESSED with the skip counting videos on school tube!! They're HILARIOUS!!

These are just a couple of our favorites :) Google "counting by 2's/5's/10's, school tube" and a whole slew of videos will pop up :) The kids LOVE them!!!!

And you seriously need some of this for dinner tonight...

Could NOT be easier!!!! And yummy, too!!

  14. I make my own skip counting songs! Haha! We sing like monsters, like robots, like grandmas, like babies... the kids love it!

As for dinner tonight.. check out my blog! I posted a yummy casserole that I made last night!

    Have a good night!

  15. Ron Brown and Intellitunes
we use alot of his and mix with Dr. Jean

    good luck!

  16. We love the skip counting songs at havefunteaching. We get up and groove a little too.

We had Ramano's Macaroni Grill in a box - leftover fajita chicken meat with alreado. Yum!! Best instant alfredo I have found.

  17. My kids love to listen to Jack Hartmann. He's got cd's for both reading and math and he's lots of fun!

  18. I agree...I love Harry Kindergarten too! Also, I there are some chants that are from the North Carolina Week by Week Essentials. I have made them into a Smart Notebook activity. They really work!! If you are interested let me know and I can email them to you!

  19. This isn't a song but we do "spin around and sit down" and the kids LOVE IT! We count by 2s, 5s, or 10s and have a magic number. If they call the magic number they spin in a circle and sit.

We count around the circle. They ask for "the fun counting game" all the time :)

  20. In our homeschooling calendar time, we use "Homeschool Creations" little Skip Counting poems and cards, found here:

They have a simple poem with them, which is cute, simple and "catchy," and they are FREE! ;0)

  21. Check out Mark D. Pencil's Learning with Hip Hop. You can buy it on iTunes. I used it all the time for skip counting and loved it!

    You MUST try it!

  22. I love Dr. Jean's Counting Cadence or there is a bus driver who has a cd out. I will see if I can email you the info.

  23. I think Touch Math has one but I have not listened to it myself to know if its any good. Good luck!

  24. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jack Hartman. His skip count songs are super cute and catchy. The kids love them!!!

  25. I always skip count by 5s to the Macarena without any song. We stand in a circle and do it. When we get to 100 we throw our hands in the air. I've never done it with music but that'd be fun too.

  26. The Pasco School District in Washington State has wonderful resources, including chants, for free on their website: http://www.psd1.org/page/253#Elem%20Math

    Good luck!
