mr. fly (a phonics unit) giveaway! - CLOSED

I am workin' on another unit.

Of course it won't be finished until I have worked out all the kinks...
and tried out all the lessons on my students (a.k.a. my guinea pigs).

We are learning about the long /i/ sound spelled "y" (for example: fly, why, sky) this week.

That is why I came up with this little guy...

Meet Mr. Fly:

Does he look familiar to you?
Well he should...

My students love these books... which is why they are loving these lessons!

This unit will include (and isn't limited to):
*Y Character Poster (in B&W and Color)
*Games, Games and MORE Games
*Fun Activities with "Fly Guy" Literature
*Assessments
*Writing Activities
*Word Sorts
*Fun Art Activities

  78. I would really LOVE to win this unit because I LOVE all of the Tedd Arnold "Fly" books AND I am currently getting my Bachelor's to teach Elementary Education and I have been to so many amazing blogs and I hope to one day be able to be as amazing as all of you are in creating your units... and I figured if I had a unit then maybe I could learn how to compile them so that when I start my internship in the Fall I can make some amazing activities for the students and use them as my guinea pigs so I can be a fabulous teacher when I have my own classroom! I really hope I win. *fingers crossed*

  80. I would love to have this unit. I've really tried to add a little pep into my phonics lessons this year. This one would fit oh so perfect with my kiddos! They love Fly Guy!

  81. There's a good chance that I will be switching grade levels next year, but even if I stay at third, I still have kiddos come to me with really sketchy phonics skills. This would enable me to use a high-interest book to teach an important phonics skill! :) By the way, your creativity and artwork amazes me! This is so cute!

  84. I need this unit because I am a student teacher. I need all the resources I can get for my first year of teaching next year! I just became introduced to the world of teacher blogs about a week ago and now I'm addicted. I come home from my student teaching and spend hours going through blogs looking for creative, fun, engaging activities. My cooperating teacher has been noticing all these new activities, I've started using in our classroom. She was curious how I suddenly started finding so many things so I told her about a bunch of blogs. She repeatedly said that she knew about blogging, but had never thought of how there might be teacher blogs. She was so impressed with all the fun things I've been using and telling her about that she made me present it to the entire first grade team (4 other teachers, an ELL teacher, and a gifted teacher). I presented a bunch of blogs today during team planning- they were all very impressed. I LOVE all the ideas I've been getting. Some things I adapt for my class and some I use exactly as planned- teaching is all about differentiation and making adaptations as necessary, after all, to meet the needs of your students. Unfortunately, being a student teacher, I am not making any money right now so I cannot buy any units right now. However, once I have a teacher salary, I'm planning to spend what little I make on such fun, creative activities. I need this Mr. Fly unit as a starting point. One, it is one phonics unit to use as a resource. Also, all these teacher blogs have inspired me to start creating cute, fun, engaging activities, but I need a unit to get ideas from in order to get me started! PLEASE help this student teacher be able to start her first year of teaching next year- I so deeply desire to reach each and every student. I need all the resources, encouragement, support, and advice that I can get!!
