100th day of school

In my class, they had been looking forward to the 100th day of school for a long time! I can't believe it has already come and gone... it seems like just yesterday that they were new first graders coming in the door!

We made these funky hats for 100's day... and YES, they put 100 paper strips their hats. It was a great counting/grouping activity. It only took them about 30 minutes to put it all together. They loved them!

Funny Story: Last week one of my first graders told me that they were going to miss me...

"Miss me?" I said, "Why are you going to miss me?"

My cute first grader replied sadly, "Well, the 100th day of school is coming and then I will be a second grader. That's why I'll miss you."

I giggled.

I realized then that I needed to "clarify" that the 100th day of school wasn't the last day of first grade...

Happy (late) 100's day to you!

  1. Hey! I'm your second follower. Your site looks great! I think it's a wonderful idea for a teacher to reflect upon their experiences through a blog.

Thanks for stopping by Teach with Picture Books.

  3. I saw these hats online somewhere and wanted to do them but I thought the paper cutting would take FOREVER - but it looks really cute, I think I will do that next year!!
